Thank you so much for for supporting and allowing me to attend ESPA’s European Congress for Paediatric Anaesthesiology in Rotterdam in September 2019.

I presented two poster presentations on work led by Dr Mishra and Dr Lillie from the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital.  We spent several months auditing the notes of children who have had tonsillectomy and adenotonsillectomy surgery with the aim of improving day case rates and patient outcomes.  One presentation showed how the Alex has been able to significantly improve its day case rate by continued refinement of selection criteria through audit cycles.  The other presentation looked at variation of opioid use intra-operatively and found remifentanil had no significant clinical advantage in reducing PACU times but had increased rescue opioid analgesia requirement compared to the non-remifentanil group.
