I wanted to write to NAPGET to say thank you for the generous support you provided to help me attend and present a poster at the International Congress of Obstetric Anaesthesia in Cape Town.
This conference was a fantastic opportunity for me to further my training in obstetric anaesthesia and helped me to meet some of the outcome requirements of my higher obstetrics unit of training.
In addition, this specific conference also combined my interest for global health and global surgery. This was the first international obstetric anaesthesia conference held within Africa, and it definitely was an international event with speakers and delegates from multiple high and low and middle-income countries. I was completely starstruck as I had the opportunity to meet people whose education work and research in global health I had admired for many years.
Being an event where practice in African countries was discussed a lot meant a number of the sessions involved discussing patient cases with significant medical and obstetric co-morbidities, as well as fantastic update sessions on many obstetric emergencies.
Every single talk had me interested the whole way through and I really look forward to attending this again in the future. Thank you again to NAPGET as I would have struggled to attend without your support.
